EWUCRT Arranges a Research Seminar on VR-Based Disaster Response Training

The East West University Center for Research and Training (EWUCRT) organized a research seminar titled “Virtual Reality-based Disaster Response Training System: Fire and Earthquake” on April 30, 2026, at the EWUCRT Seminar Room. The seminar was chaired by Professor Dr. Shams Rahman, Vice Chancellor of East West University (EWU) and Chairperson of EWUCRT. Professor Dr. Md. Sohel Rana, Executive Director of EWUCRT, delivered the welcome remarks, introducing the distinguished presenters to the audience.

The research seminar was presented by Dr. Mohammad Salah Uddin, Associate Professor, and Mr. Md Al-Imran, Senior Lecturer, both from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, EWU. Their presentation showcased how Virtual Reality (VR) can simulate high-stress scenarios like fires and earthquakes, providing a safe yet realistic environment for training responders.

The event was also graced by Professor Dr. M. Ashik Mosaddik, Pro-Vice Chancellor, EWU. Air Cdre (retd) Ishfaq Ilahi Choudhury, Treasurer, EWU. Professor Dr. Ahmed Wasif Reza, Dean, Faculty of Sciences and Engineering, along with Faculty Members, EWUCRT officials, and enthusiastic students.

The seminar concluded with a lively and interactive Q&A session, where faculty members discussed the technical challenges and future scalability of VR-based training systems in the context of Bangladesh's disaster vulnerability.
